Boudoir Photography: Celebrating the Art of Human Beauty
Boudoir photography celebrates the art of human beauty through sensual and seductive poses. Historically, the term “boudoir” was derived from French verb “bouder” and refers to a lady’s private room such as a bedroom, dressing room, or sitting room. Photography has adopted the term boudoir in creating a genre of photography that is typically performed with female subjects in a bedroom setting. However, boudoir photography can apply to males and couples and can take place in a wide variety of locations.
I recently had the chance to do my first boudoir session for a client and was excited for the opportunity. Though I studied poses, settings, and techniques of others, I wanted to do something different in choosing to create sets or scenes rather than just solely using a bedroom. Even though this was my first boudoir shoot, I want to offer something to the viewer that is not typically done.
The client was amazing to work with and was open to trying different settings and set designs. She was comfortable with herself and had fun with her shoot always smiling and oftentimes bursting into laughter. She embraced her beauty and it came through in the photographs. Although you are only seeing a portion of the session we did that day, she came out stunning in many of the photos.
Enjoy the photographs from the shooting session, and you are welcome to provide feedback.
